Betmatch Licensing Sparks Fresh Regulatory Debate in South Africa

The South African Bookmakers’ Association (SABA) has rekindled its examination of the North West Gambling Board’s decision to issue a betting exchange license to Betmatch. While SABA acknowledged that Betmatch holds an official license, questions were raised regarding whether the regulator possessed the statutory power to grant such a license in the first place. In a statement released on Tuesday, SABA CEO Sean Coleman called for the disclosure of all records, legal analyses, and legislative documentation that provided the foundation for the licensing decision.
