Solana Completes Move to 200ms Slots on Mainnet

Solana has completed the final reduction in its staged slot-time upgrade, moving mainnet to a 200ms target at the start of epoch 1053 on October 9. The first completed epoch under that target averaged 218.3ms per slot and lasted 26.2 hours, offering the first observed reading after the change. Solana Compass reported that Anza confirmed 200ms slots were live on mainnet-beta at approximately 14:42 UTC on October 9. The activation completes SIMD-0525, a rollout that had previously reduced the target from 400ms to 250ms. Solana’s configured target slot duration is now 200ms, down from 250ms in the final SIMD-0525 change.
