Afghanistan climbs to No. 6 in ODIs, attains its highest ranking

CHENNAI The Afghanistan men’s national team jumped up to sixth place in the latest ICC ODI rankings released on Sunday, achieving its highest-ever position since getting the ODI status in 2009. The rise comes on the back of its tri-series win in Zimbabwe where it beat the host nation and Bangladesh to clinch the trophy. The Afghan Atalan had also triumphed 4-0 in Ireland before that. The Asian nation had already booked a ticket for the 2027 ODI World Cup in September by virtue of securing a top-eight rank before the cut-off date for automatic qualification.
