Andoni Iraola told he must drop Florian Wirtz as £116m star’s ‘confidence is shot’

Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola has been told to remove Florian Wirtz from the firing line. Wirtz, who was once the Reds’ record signing, is veering towards being officially declared one of the club’s most expensive mistakes. The German was brought off after 66 minutes during Liverpool’s 3-0 loss to Manchester City on Sunday having failed to make many, if any, meaningful attacking contributions. No player lost the ball as much as Wirtz in the first half as he gave it away an alarming 16 times.
