Astros officially hire ex-Cardinals AGM as new general manager

Despite reportedly having their eye on Milwaukee Brewers executive Matt Kleine , the Houston Astros are trusting a different National League Central squad to lead their front office . St. Louis Cardinals assistant general manager Randy Flores will occupy the vacant general manager position in Space City, per Chandler Rome of The Athletic. The retired left-handed relief pitcher won a World Series title with the Redbirds in 2006 and spent the last 11 years working in the organization. He started out as the director of scouting before also ascending to the assistant GM role in 2018.
