Atletico Madrid v Man United LIVE: Carrick under pressure as struggling visitors return to Champions League

Welcome to The Independent’s coverage of tonight’s Champions League action as Manchester United travel to Atletico Madrid with the aim of getting back to winning ways. It’s been a while since Michael Carrick’s side won a match, with their last victory coming on September 10 with a 4-0 victory over Azerbaijan side Sabah. That win sits them fourth in the Champions League table but they’ll face a much tougher test against Atletico this evening. This match is the first of two crucial outings for Carrick and co. with a tricky encounter against Leeds in the Premier League following this weekend.
