Brazilian industry bodies seek suspension of betting ban pending public hearing

The National Association of Games and Lotteries (ANJL) and the Brazilian Institute of Responsible Gaming (IBJR) have asked the Supreme Federal Court (STF) to suspend Brazil’s betting prohibition until a new public hearing has been held. In a petition dated 6 October and addressed to Supreme Federal Court Justice Luiz Fux in proceedings under ADI 7721, the associations requested the temporary suspension of Provisional Measure 1,394/2026. Their principal request would allow authorised operators to resume accepting deposits and wagers until the hearing takes place.
