CFP chair explains Notre Dame football’s shocking No. 11 ranking before Miami clash

Not that it would satisfy the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Notre Dame football fans , but College Football Playoff selection chair Hunter Yurachek has provided an explanation about why the program received only the No. 11 spot in the first edition of the CFP rankings. “They don’t have that signature win right now,” Yurachek said about Marcus Freeman’s Fighting Irish, via Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports. “They have a great opportunity this weekend (against Miami).” Notre Dame has only one loss so far in the 2026 college football season.
