CFP rankings 2026: LSU ranks No. 14 in first playoff rankings

The first College Football Playoff rankings have just been released and while the LSU Tigers are sitting at 6-2, the "experts" have them ranked at No. 14 which puts them just out of reach of making the postseason, if the season were to end today. These initial rankings are a bit skewed as LSU is ranked lower than Tennessee and Alabama, who is ranked above Kentucky despite having a better record. Honestly, the rankings never make sense and it will only get worse once they go to a 24 team playoff system.
