Don Mattingly’s future with Phillies gets an update 12 days after elimination

The Philadelphia Phillies recently made the MLB postseason for the fifth straight year. However, it was their first time in that stretch losing in the Wild Card round. They fell to their division rival Atlanta Braves in three games. Philadelphia's season was quite the roller coaster. After a terrible 9-19 start in April, former interim manager Rob Thompson was fired, with bench coach Mattingly being promoted as interim manager in his stead. The team went 79-55 under his leadership, capturing the National League's No. 6 seed with an 88-74 record.
