F1 returns to Africa for first time in 33 YEARS in landmark 10-year deal after Lewis Hamilton’s long campaign

FORMULA ONE has announced it will return to Africa for the first time since 1993. The motorsport series has long been missing a race on the continent to truly be considered a “world” championship, with Lewis Hamilton being a major supporter of a return. But from the early 2030s F1 chiefs will right that wrong with a new purpose-built racetrack in Bugesera, Rwanda. F1 confirmed a landmark decade-long deal with organisers for what will officially be called the “Formula 1 African Grand Prix”.
