Former Olympian dies aged weeks after wedding as tributes paid to 'inspiration'

Former Olympic runner Ciara Mageean has died this morning, just weeks after tying the knot with her long-time partner. The 34 year old was surrounded by her family and friends when she passed away at 6.30am on Sunday, November 1. A statement posted on her social media read: "At 6:30am this morning, Ciara lost her battle with cancer surrounded by her loved ones. A beloved daughter, sister, wife, friend and inspiration to so many, she will be deeply missed.
