Giannis Antetokounmpo Now Eligible For Extension, Waiting Until January Adds $82M

Giannis Antetokounmpo became eligible for a contract extension with the Miami Heat on Oct. 1. However, holding off until January, or even until the 2027 offseason, would allow him to sign for substantially more money. Because the Milwaukee Bucks traded him to Miami on July 6, his current options are limited as he can extend for three years and $194 million, or two years and $135.1 million. Jan. 6 is the six-month mark following the trade. On that date, Antetokounmpo becomes eligible for a four-year, $276 million extension.
