Former Texas A&M outfielder Braden Montgomery's first major league season ended in the American League Division Series, but his rookie year gave the Chicago White Sox another young player to build around. Montgomery appeared in 93 regular-season games after Chicago promoted him from Triple-A Charlotte in June. He hit .226 with a .312 on-base percentage, 73 hits, 16 doubles, three triples, six home runs and 38 RBIs. He also scored 47 runs and finished with a .662 OPS. His season began with a moment that immediately placed him in the record book.
