Iowa baseball's Brett Harris retiring due to brain tumors

"It's very tough to watch them do it when I can't do it anymore," Harris said in a phone interview with the Des Moines Register on Oct. 12. "Being around the guys and talking to them is always nice." Harris will be watching baseball instead of playing it for the rest of his life after deciding to retire recently. The decision came as the Iowa freshman dealt with symptoms from three brain tumors he has. "I had a few things that got worse and I had to make a decision," Harris said.
