Looking at the Florida-Texas series history spanning nearly 100 years

The Gators will look to build on last season's upset over the Longhorns despite dropping their second consecutive game to South Carolina last week. Each program has more than a century of history but has only met five times, with the Longhorns holding a 3-1-1 series advantage. The two first met in Oct. 1924 when the pair battled to a 7-7 tie in the Lone Star state. Texas controlled the next two matchups, shutting out Florida 12-0 in 1939 and 26-0 in 1940. The programs would not meet again for another 84 years.
