Mariners hire Dan Wilson’s manager replacement from Cubs

The Seattle Mariners are hiring a new manager after moving on from Dan Wilson following an underwhelming 2026 season. According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, Seattle is set to hire Jason Kanzler — who most recently served as the Chicago Cubs’ director of player development. Kanzler has no big league managing experience. The Mariners were linked to multiple other candidates before hiring Wilson. Cleveland Guardians manager Stephen Vogt was mentioned as a possibility since he has family in Washington. However, Vogt is planning to remain with the Guardians.
