OTD (29/10/32) Gurney Goes Nap As Carter Bags First Sunderland Goal On Home Debut

Bobby Gurney and Raich Carter are legendary names at Sunderland AFC; rightly so. They are two locally born players who scaled heights that have never subsequently been matched, and together were part of a Sunderland side that is one of the best the club’s ever seen. And, on this day 94 years ago, they served notice of what was to come, with a devastating display at Roker Park against Bolton team who tried to give as good as they got, but ultimately came up short. This was Raich Carter’s Roker Park debut.
