Packers lead Panthers 6-3 after Trey Smack misses another PAT

The Packers stuck with kicker Trey Smack after his misses from 26 and 35 in a 20-17 loss to the Lions last week. It’s looking like a bad decision. The sixth-round rookie hit the left upright on a PAT try with 5:08 remaining in the first quarter, his third missed extra point of the season. He has now missed eight kicks. Packers wide receiver Coleman Owen fumbled the opening kickoff, and linebacker Nick Hampton recovered for the Panthers. Carolina gained only 8 yards in the drive before Ryan Fitzgerald kicked a 39-yard field goal.
