Pat McAfee Breaks Silence Over Replacing Troy Aikman at ESPN for Monday Night Football

Pat McAfee is getting a bigger role in ESPN’s NFL coverage, but that does not mean he is preparing to take Troy Aikman’s place in the Monday Night Football booth. After a report suggested McAfee could eventually join Joe Buck as ESPN’s lead game analyst, the former NFL punter addressed the speculation directly. “This isn’t real,” McAfee commented on Front Office Sports’ X post . “There’s been zero conversation about this.” His response came after Front Office Sports columnist Michael McCarthy floated the possibility that McAfee’s upcoming Field Pass alternate broadcast could serve as an audition for a bigger role.
