Pressure mounts on Michael Carrick as Manchester United stumble at Atlético Madrid

Diego Simeone's team grabbed the lead within seconds through Pablo Barrios. The Spanish club believed they had extended their advantage moments before halftime when Johnny Cardoso finished clinically, but the goal was disallowed after a VAR check . United's night deteriorated further in the second half when VAR intervened once more to see Leny Yoro dismissed for a last-man foul on Jonathan David, before Ademola Lookman netted to increase the Spanish club's cushion. The loss places Carrick under genuine pressure going into what could prove a crucial Premier League match against Leeds United this weekend, as per The Mirror .
