Simeone backs goal-shy Álvarez and admits Lookman struggles ahead of Manchester United clash

Atlético Madrid manager Diego Simeone has defended Julián Álvarez's contribution despite his lack of goals and acknowledged Ademola Lookman's dip in form ahead of Tuesday's Champions League clash with Manchester United. Speaking at Monday's pre-match press conference, Simeone stressed the importance of securing points after Atlético suffered a 2-1 defeat to Liverpool in their opening league phase fixture. The Atlético boss highlighted Álvarez's ability to link up with teammates and create opportunities, praising his second-half performance against Alavés on Saturday.
