Spurs set to battle Barcelona in the race to sign in-form striker

Tottenham's search for greater cutting edge in attack appears to have led them firmly towards Benfica striker Vangelis Pavlidis, though the emerging picture suggests any move will be difficult, expensive and far more likely to develop in the summer than in January. According to TeamTalk , Spurs hold a serious interest in the Greece international, but they are running into two clear barriers, Benfica's stance and growing competition led by Barcelona. Pavlidis has been one of the standout forwards in Europe across the early part of the season.
