Villa drop legal action threat against Carragher

Aston Villa have dropped their threat of legal action against Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher. On Friday, Villa had said they would initiate legal action against the former England defender for what they described as "unacceptable insults" made by Carragher on the Stick to Football podcast. The former Liverpool defender linked Villa boss Unai Emery with replacing Michael Carrick at Manchester United and told fans to 'shut up' in response to their criticism of him. Carragher apologised on Saturday for using "clumsy and wrong" language, and said his comments were "tongue in cheek".
