Formula 1 is heading back to Africa after more than three decades away, with Rwanda securing a historic 10-year agreement to host the African Grand Prix in the early 2030s. Announced on October 13, the deal will bring the FIA Formula One World Championship back to the continent for the first time since the 1993 South African Grand Prix at Kyalami. The new race, officially named the Formula 1 African Grand Prix, presented by Visit Rwanda, will take place at a purpose-built circuit in Bugesera, around 40 kilometres south of Kigali. The agreement is huge for African motorsport.
