Former Olympic athlete's heartbreaking promise to her partner before tragic death aged 34

Olympian Ciara Mageean vowed "I’m not going to let this cancer get in the way" of her marriage to long-term partner Thomas Moran just weeks before she died. The former runner passed away at the weekend at the age of 34 , with her friends and family beside her. Mageean was one of Ireland's most decorated middle-distance runners and represented the Emerald Isle at two Olympic Games. She also won European gold and Commonwealth silver in the 1500m. Only last month she tied the knot with Moran at Darver Castle in County Louth.
