Preseason top 25: Best-case, worst-case rankings

Six months ago, the Michigan Wolverines were crowned national champions -- and we published our initial Way-Too-Early Top 25 rankings for the 2026-27 season. There was the transfer portal window, the NBA draft deadline, reclassifications and international signings. Michigan was No. 1 at the time, as it wasn't clear that Morez Johnson Jr. and Aday Mara were definitively headed to the NBA draft. Florida was No. 3, as Thomas Haugh was widely expected to leave for the NBA. Tennessee , Kansas , Miami and Texas Tech were all just outside the top 25. But what else has happened this summer?
