Rockets Pick Up Reed Sheppard’s Fourth-Year Option

The Rockets have picked up their fourth-year team option on Reed Sheppard ’s rookie scale contract, the team announced today ( Twitter link via Will Guillory of The Athletic). The move guarantees Sheppard’s salary for the 2027/28 season. He’ll earn $11.11MM this season and $14.04MM next season before becoming eligible for restricted free agency in 2028. Houston could keep him off the RFA market that summer by signing him to a rookie scale extension during the 2027 offseason. After being drafted third overall in 2024 out of Kentucky, Sheppard played a very limited role for the Rockets as a rookie.
