Why there is no early game this Sunday with unique Premier League schedule explained

This weekend will see just one Premier League fixture take place on Sunday. Fans have become accustomed to top-flight matches taking place across two time slots every Sunday as part of the weekly schedule. Matchweek 8 saw five matches held on Sunday, one more than the total on Saturday. But due to Premier League rules, Arsenal’s trip to Liverpool at 4.30pm this weekend is the only fixture being played on the first day of November. It comes after the fixture schedule had to be adjusted in September, two weeks on from the TV selections being made.
