Lanning says Oregon DT won't face discipline for play that hurt Iamaleava

Oregon defensive tackle Bear Alexander will not face discipline for what Ducks coach Dan Lanning said was a late attempt to punch the ball out from UCLA quarterback Nico Iamaleava in Saturday's 17-15 loss in Eugene. As Iamaleava was tackled on a second-quarter scramble, TV replays showed Alexander twist the quarterback's helmet and swing his right arm, which struck Iamaleava in the chin but did not jar the ball loose. Iamaleava suffered a knee injury on the play that left the team with "serious concern" about his outlook , UCLA coach Bob Chesney said earlier Monday.
