Retirement, marking Jutkiewicz and emulating Lampard - Birmingham City favourite tells all

You don’t have to spend too long in a footballer’s company to be reminded how fickle a profession it can be. Hero one minute, zero the next, one manager loves you, the next doesn’t, from first team regular to the fringes on the blow of a whistle. To mangle a few metaphors, a career in football is like being the ball in a roulette wheel, in a travelling circus, on a boat, in storm-tossed seas. You don’t get to choose when you get in, how long you stay, or when you leave. At least most don’t.
