Eagles announce 2 roster moves ahead of Commanders matchup

The Philadelphia Eagles made two roster moves Saturday ahead of their Week 8 matchup against the Washington Commanders , elevating running back Elijah Mitchell and linebacker Mason Reiger from the practice squad for Sunday Night Football. Philadelphia announced the transactions as the team prepares to end a five-game losing streak and address injuries that have depleted several positions. Mitchell's elevation was expected after the Eagles placed running back Dameon Pierce on injured reserve earlier this week. The veteran running back will provide depth behind Saquon Barkley and Jaydon Blue, giving Philadelphia three available running backs for Sunday's contest.
